Wounding case in Lantau North reclassified as attempted murder

     Police yesterday (August 21) reclassified a wounding and suicide case in Lantau North on August 16 as attempted murder and suicide.

     At about 5.50am on that day, Police received a report from a 44-year-old woman that her 42-year-old husband wounded her and then fell from height at their residence on 2 Kin Tung Road.

     Police officers sped to the scene and found the man lying unconscious on the floor outside the building. The woman also sustained injuries to her chest. Both were sent to the Princess Margaret Hospital where the man was later certified dead at 6.48am.

     A knife was seized inside the unit. Initial investigations revealed that the man committed suicide after wounding his wife with the knife.

     Investigations by the District Crime Squad of Lantau District are under way.
