The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in July showed a drop of 306 cases compared to June, representing a decrease of 0.1 per cent, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (August 22).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of July stood at 273,542 (see attached table), with a total of 435,793 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, low-earnings and unemployment cases registered month-to-month decreases of 1.3 per cent and 0.7 per cent to 11,228 and 25,169 cases respectively. Single parent and permanent disability cases also dropped by 0.2 per cent and 0.1 per cent to 32,405 and 18,345 cases respectively.
Old age cases remained steady at 153,925 cases.
Ill-health cases registered a slight increase of 0.3 per cent to 25,339 cases.
