Fatal traffic accident in Sha Tin

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sha Tin yesterday night (August 20) in which a 52-year-old man was killed.  

     At about 10.30pm yesterday, a private car driven by a 28-year-old man was travelling uphill along Lai Ping Road. When reaching a bend near Kau To Village, it reportedly knocked down the 52-year-old man who was riding downhill on his bicycle.
     
     Sustaining serious head injuries, the man was rushed to the Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH) in unconscious state where he was certified dead at 11.25pm. The 28-year-old private car driver sustained face injuries and was also sent to the PWH for medical treatment in conscious state.

     Investigations by the Special Investigations Team of Traffic, New Territories South are underway.  

     Anyone who witnessed the accident or has information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 3661 1300.
