Operational event at Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station
**************************************************

An operational event at Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station (LNPS) was reported today (August 14) on the website of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Operations and Management Co Ltd (DNMC), a spokesperson for the Security Bureau said today.

During a safety inspection on the No. 4 reactor on August 13, staff of LNPS found that some of the sensors of the plant's radiation detection system were unable to transmit real-time readings to the main control room. Because of the redundancy design of the system, the safe operation of the plant had not been affected. The situation was subsequently restored to normal. The event was classified as a Level 0 event on the International Nuclear Event Scale, which means it had no safety significance.

The DNMC disseminates on its website (www.dnmc.com.cn) news pertaining to the operation and safety issues of both the Guangdong Nuclear Power Station and LNPS for the information of the general public. Details about this event can be viewed at the "Operational Events" section under the "Nuclear and Radiation Safety Information" webpage of the DNMC website.
