Preparatory Task Force on the Chinese Medicine Development Committee established

     The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, announced today (August 14) the establishment of the Preparatory Task Force (PTF) on the Chinese Medicine Development Committee. The PTF will commence operation this month.

     The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr Ko Wing-man, will chair the PTF. Members will include the Chairman of the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong, Professor Andrew Chan; the Chairman of the Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board of the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong, Mr Wong Kit; the Chairperson of the Hong Kong Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners Association, Ms Fung Jiu; the Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Industry Association, Mr Tommy Li; Council member of the Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association Mr Abraham Chan; the Director of the School of Chinese Medicine of the University of Hong Kong, Professor Tong Yao; the Director of the School of Chinese Medicine of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Albert Leung; the Dean of Chinese Medicine of the Hong Kong Baptist University, Professor Lu Aiping; the Permanent Secretary for Food and Health (Health); and the Director of Health.

     The Chief Executive said, "The Preparatory Task Force will advise the Government on the terms of reference and composition of the Committee, as well as the priorities and direction of the Committee's work in the future."
