Appointments to Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health

     The Government gazetted today (August 10) the re-appointment of Ms Lisa Lau Man-man as Chairman of the Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health.

     Three serving members, namely Mr Abraham Chan Yu-ling, Mr Chau Yui-chi and Ms Yolanda Ng Yuen-ting, are re-appointed. In addition, Dr Mak Yiu-kwong, Dr Joyce Tang Shao-fen, Mr Jason Wong Chun-tat and Mr Christopher Yu Wing-fai are appointed as new Council members.

     All the appointments will be effective from October 1, 2012, for a term of two years.

     The Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health is an independent statutory body established in 1987 to advise the Government on matters related to smoking and health. It is also tasked with advancing public education concerning the effects of smoking on the community and individuals as well as engaging in smoking-related research.

     The full membership of the Council with effect from October 1, 2012, is as follows:
