Temporary traffic and transport arrangements for tram track renewal work in Shau Kei Wan

     The Transport Department (TD) today (August 10) reminded the public that temporary traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented at the junction of Shau Kei Wan Road and Tai On Street from next Monday (August 13) to August 20 to facilitate tram track renewal work.

     The temporary traffic and transport arrangements will include:

(1) From 3pm on August 13 to 10am on August 20:

* Temporary closure of a section of the rightmost traffic lane on Shau Kei Wan Road westbound near its junction with Shing On Street; and
* Temporary closure of a section of the traffic lane on Tai On Street which is dedicated for heading direct to Shing On Street near its junction with Shau Kei Wan Road.

(2) From 10am on August 13 to 10am on August 20, the bus stops of Citybus Routes A12, 529 and 698R and New World First Bus Routes 2, 81 and 82 on Shau Kei Wan Road westbound near Tai Chung Building will continue to be temporarily relocated to about 70 metres westwards to Shau Kei Wan Road westbound outside Yip Ning Building.

     Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. People planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible. The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. The public are advised to be alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
