Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Sham Shui Po today (July 31) in which an 86-year-old man died.
About 3.08pm, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 32-year-old man was travelling along Pei Ho Street. When turning into Hai Tan Street, it reportedly hit the 86-year-old man who was crossing the road.
The pedestrian sustained severe head and leg injuries and was rushed to Caritas Medical Centre and subsequently transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital where he was certified dead at 6.54pm.
Investigations will be taken over by Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West.
Police urged anyone who saw the accident or has any information to offer to contact the investigating officers on 2773 5200 or 2773 5258.
