Central Policy Unit full-time member appointed

     The Government announced today (July 31) that Professor Wong Chack-kie, has been appointed a full-time member of the Central Policy Unit.  The term of appointment will be from August 1, 2012 to July 31, 2014.

     Professor Wong is an experienced social and public policy researcher.  He joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1989, and was a Professor of the Department of Social Work and the Associate Director of the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies.

     Professor Wong will assist the Head of the Central Policy Unit, Mr Shiu Sin-por, in advising the Chief Executive, the Chief Secretary for Administration and the Financial Secretary on various social issues, and conduct relevant policy research.

     The Head of the Central Policy Unit said he was extremely pleased with the appointment.  He said he believed Professor Wong's wealth of social and public research experience in comparative social policy, poverty and social security, citizenship and social rights, subjective well-being and governance indicators, and welfare and medical reforms in China would contribute greatly towards the Unit's work.
