Government response on digital audio broadcasting
*************************************************

On the statement issued by Digital Broadcasting Corporation Hong Kong Limited (DBC) today (July 27), a spokesman for the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau (CEDB) gives the following response:

"The CEDB met with the management of DBC this morning. We understand that there is some disagreement between the shareholders of DBC, and it would not be appropriate for the Government to intervene or comment in this regard.

"We have reminded DBC to comply with the relevant statutory and licensing requirements, including seeking necessary approval from the Communications Authority in case of changes in service pursuant to the relevant provisions under the law and its licence.

"CEDB and the Office of the Communications Authority will continue to maintain a close contact with the management of DBC so as to closely monitor the developments. We will also monitor DBC's compliance with the requirements under the Telecommunications Ordinance and its licence."
