     The Government announced today (July 27) that Ms Bernadette Linn Hon-ho, former Private Secretary to the Chief Executive, will assume the post of Director of Lands on July 31, 2012.

     Commenting on the appointment, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Paul Tang, said, "Ms Linn is a seasoned Administrative Officer with rich experience in public administration and proven leadership and management skills. I have every confidence that she will continue to serve the community with professionalism and dedication in her new capacity, and ably lead her office to meet the challenges ahead."

     Brief biographical notes on Ms Linn are set out below:

     Aged 48.  Ms Bernadette Linn Hon-ho joined the Administrative Service in January 1989 and rose to her present rank of Administrative Officer Staff Grade B1 in April 2010.

     Ms Linn has served in various bureaux and departments, including the former City and New Territories Administration, the former New Airport Projects Co-ordination Office, the former Civil Service Branch (later renamed Civil Service Bureau) and the former Finance Bureau (later renamed Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau).  She was Deputy Secretary for Education and Manpower (later renamed Deputy Secretary for Education) from April 2005 to October 2008, and Deputy Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury (Treasury) from November 2008 to March 2010.  She was Private Secretary to the Chief Executive from April 2010 to June 2012.
