Western Harbour Crossing and Route 3 maintain present actual toll levels
************************************************************

The franchisees of Western Harbour Crossing (WHC) and Route 3 (Country Park Section) (Route 3) will maintain actual tolls at the current levels, despite new statutory tolls being gazetted today (July 27).

"WHC and Route 3 are entitled under the law to increase their statutory tolls if the companies' actual net revenues fall short of the minimum estimated net revenues specified in the law," a Transport and Housing Bureau spokesman said.

"The two tunnel companies will keep the actual tolls unchanged for all types of vehicle. Tunnel users will therefore not be affected."

"The toll adjustment mechanisms for WHC and Route 3 are specified in the Western Harbour Crossing Ordinance (Cap 436) and the Tai Lam Tunnel and Yuen Long Approach Road Ordinance (Cap 474) respectively."

The franchisees of WHC and Route 3 recently notified the Government of their decisions to exercise their right to effect a statutory toll increase.

The new statutory tolls of WHC will come into effect on July 31, whereas those of Route 3 will take effect on August 1. The tunnel companies will continue to offer concessions to all types of vehicle so that current toll levels will be maintained.

Information notes on the statutory toll increase of WHC and Route 3 have been uploaded to the THB website (www.thb.gov.hk/eng/psp/pressreleases/transport/land/2012/20120727.pdf).
