Appointments/re-appointments to Air Transport Licensing Authority

     The Government announced today (July 27) the appointment of the Chairman and two new members, and the re-appointment of three incumbent members, to the Air Transport Licensing Authority:

Chairman
Ms Teresa Cheng Yeuk-wah

Members
Professor Becky Loo Pui-ying
Mr Adrian Wong Koon-man
Mrs Mabel Lui Fung Mei-yee (re-appointment)
Ms Amanda Liu Lai-yun (re-appointment)
Mr Paul Tan Chuen-yan (re-appointment)

     They are appointed/re-appointed for two years from August 1, 2012.  The other members of the Authority are Mr Albert Au Siu-cheung, Mr Peter Choy Chak-wa and Ms Elizabeth Law.

     A government spokesman said, "We are delighted that the Chairman and the two new members and the three incumbent members have accepted the appointments and re-appointments.  We are confident that the team of new and serving members, with their expertise and background in different sectors, will make valuable contributions to the work of the Authority in facilitating the development of air services in Hong Kong.

     "The Government is most grateful to the Chairman, Mr Andrew Liao Cheung-sing, and two retiring members, Professor Michael Fung Ka-yiu and Mr Philco Wong Nai-keung, for their invaluable contribution to the work of the Authority.  Their term of service will expire on July 31, 2012."

     The Authority is an independent statutory body established under the Air Transport (Licensing of Air Services) Regulations, Cap 448 sub leg A. It is responsible for considering applications from Hong Kong airlines for licences to operate scheduled services to and from Hong Kong in accordance with the provisions of the said regulations.

     The appointments/re-appointments will be published in the Government Gazette today.
