FEHD orders Mong Kok food factory to suspend business for three weeks
**********************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a food factory in Mong Kok to suspend business for 21 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by failing to store open food properly within the premises and allowing staff to use open space for preparation of open food.

The food factory, located at Portion A1 of Shop A on the ground floor of Wing Wah Building at No 14-24 Sai Yeung Choi Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (July 26) to August 15.

"Four convictions for the breaches have been recorded against the food establishment since May 2010," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $9,700 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in seven-day and 14-day business suspensions running consecutively," he added.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
