Latest public transport situation (as at 10.30am)

     Public transport in Hong Kong is now resuming normal operations today (July 24) after the typhoon.

     The MTR and Tramways have resumed as normal.  For KMB, Long Win, New World First Bus, Citybus and New Lantao Bus Company, apart from routes affected by fallen trees and road closure, other bus services are gradually resuming as normal.  The Lok Ma Chau-Huanggang Shuttle Bus (Yellow Bus) services will be maintained at a headway of 15 minutes.  Due to fallen trees, service of the Peak Tram will be suspended.

     Most of the inner harbour and outlying island ferry services will be resumed within two hours.

     Members of the public should contact public transport operators for specific service details.  They are advised to be patient as some delays may occur although the situation is returning to normal.

     Due to fallen trees, fallen objects or dangerous scaffolding, the following roads are closed to all vehicular traffic:

Hong Kong Island

- Magazine Gap Road both bounds between Peak Road and Robinson Road (One-lane two way arrangement is being implemented)
- All lanes of Island Road both bounds
- All lanes of Shek O Road both bounds
- All lanes of Tai Tam Road both bounds
- The first lane of Wong Chuk Hang Road Aberdeen bound near Wong Chuk Hang San Wai Village
- All lanes of Gloucester Road Causeway Road bound near Victoria Park Road
- All lanes of Caine Road both bounds near Breezy Path

Kowloon

- All lanes of Castle Peak Road Tai Po Road bound near Tonkin Street
- All lanes of Science Museum Road both bounds near Mody Road
- All lanes of Fuk Wa Street both bounds between Nam Cheong Street and Yen Chow Street
- All lanes of Tate's Cairn Tunnel slip road Hammer Hill Road bound
- The lane no. 1 and 2 of Hung Hom Road Tsim Sha Tsui bound near Tak Man Street
- All lanes of Kadoorie Avenue both bounds

New Territories

- All lanes of Castle Peak Road (Kwai Chung section) Tsuen Wan bound near Wah Yuen Estate

     Motorists are advised not to drive into those areas and to use alternative routes. Members of the public are advised to tune into TV/radio broadcasts to obtain the latest news on road conditions.
