FEHD orders Wong Tai Sin food factory to suspend business for two weeks
**********************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a food factory in Wong Tai Sin to suspend business for 14 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the food business area.

The food factory, Bao Dian Liao Lee, located on the ground floor of 5 Wah Chi Path in Ngau Chi Wan Village, was ordered to suspend business from today (July 23) to August 5.

"In April and May this year, two convictions for the breach were recorded against the food establishment," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $4,200 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

The licensee of the food premises had a record of three convictions for the allowing open food to be stored improperly in his premises, for allowing staff to prepare food and wash food utensils in an alley and for illegally extending the food business area in July and November last year. A fine of $5,000 was levied and 20 demerit points were registered. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days in late February this year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
