Transcript of remarks by S for S
********************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, at a media session while attending a presentation ceremony today (July 22):

Reporter: ...... there will be a protest next weekend, will the Police have extra enforcement to prevent trouble?

Secretary for Security: I do not think there is any need to take extra steps. The Police will, as usual, have dialogues with the organisers. They will discuss the details of procession, and thereafter, if the procession is going to proceed, then both parties, including the Police as well as the organisers will, as usual, have close contact and dialogues to ensure that the procession will be held peacefully and orderly.

Reporter: ...... what if trouble breaks out?

Secretary for Security: The Police's stance is that they will not tolerate any unlawful act. If there is any unlawful act, then of course, they will give suitable warnings, and if this unlawful act continues, they will have to take certain minimum action to restore law and order.
