Following is a transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng, at a media session after attending a gathering for Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination candidates today (July 18):
Secretary for Education: If you look at the details of the National Education Centre's National Education handbook (booklet), the published date was actually March 2012. However, the published date of the subject guide by the Education Bureau (EDB) was end of April 2012. If you look at the time and the sequence of it, there is no way that you can refer to this particular booklet in relation to the EDB's curriculum and the curriculum guide. I understand people's concern about this particular subject. Let me repeat: We encourage, through this subject, the way of independent, multi-dimensional understanding of various aspects of the curriculum. As to the particular centre's publication, we already mentioned our comment on this one. Therefore, if people try to put the two together, relating to this publication and our published curriculum guide, I think this is fundamentally flawed. I just want to make this point very clear. Thank you very much.
