The Chief Executive has also re-appointed two existing members, namely Mr Owen Chan Shui-shing and Miss Elaine Chan Wing-yi, and appointed Dr Carrie Willis Yau Sheung-mui as a new member to the Standing Commission, all for a term of two years with effect from August 1, 2012.

The Standing Commission is currently under the Chairmanship of Mr Nicky Lo Kar-chun. Mr Lo, who has served as the Chairman of the Standing Commission since 2006, will retire on July 31, 2012. The Government is deeply appreciative of the excellent service rendered by Mr Lo during his term and the wise counsel offered by the Standing Commission on various civil service pay and conditions of service issues, e.g. the non-directorate Grade Structure Review and the 2009 Starting Salaries Survey.

The Government also expresses gratitude for the service of Ms Virginia Choi Wai-kam, who will retire from the Standing Commission at the end of this month following six years of service and valuable contribution.

The Standing Commission advises the Government on principles and practices governing the pay and conditions of service of non-directorate civilian civil servants. Other serving members are Mr Barry Cheung Chun-yuen, Dr Miranda Chung Chan Lai-foon, Mr Jeffrey Lam Kin-fung, Mr Pang Yiu-kai, Professor Suen Wing-chuen and Mr Wilfred Wong Kam-pui.
