The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer and the Economic and Information Commission of Guangdong Province (GDEI) today (July 17) announced the establishment of the Hong Kong/Guangdong Expert Committee on Cloud Computing Services and Standards. The Committee was set up under the Hong Kong/Guangdong Expert Group on Co-operation in Informatisation. It aims to strengthen co-operation of the two places in promoting the development of cloud computing and formulation of relevant standards and practices.
The Government Chief Information Officer, Mr Daniel Lai, and the Deputy Director-General of the GDEI, Dr Zou Sheng, are convenors of the Committee. Its members include 18 cloud computing experts from Hong Kong and Guangdong. With the support of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Director-General of the Department of Software and Information Service, Mr Chen Wei, and Academician Li Guojie of the CAS will serve as consultants.
The Committee will provide a platform for the industry from Hong Kong and Guangdong to promote the adoption and development of cloud computing services and standards, as well as to nurture cloud computing talents.
