Secondary school students across the city may be growing anxious as July 20 approaches. That is the day the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination results will be released. The experience of associate degree graduate Carmen Chan may give new hope to those worry their results may fall short of expectations.
She was poised to go to university until she got her results: two failed subjects. She did not let this setback ruin her plans, though. Carmen chose to pursue the government-funded two-year associate degree, took on part-time jobs, and found a successful track to earning a bachelor's degree.
