The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
Regarding earlier announcement that some patients of Kwai Chung Hospital had presented with gastroenteritis symptoms, the spokesperson for the hospital gave the following update today (July 14):
0ne more patient (aged 51) of the concerned ward has presented with fever symptoms today. Appropriate viral test had been arranged and the test result was confirmed positive to Norovirus.
The patient is being treated under isolation and in stable condition. Admission and visiting to the ward concerned would continue to be suspended. Infection control measures have been stepped up and all patients in the concerned ward are under close surveillance.
The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
