The Government today (July 13) announced the appointment of Mr Shiu Sin-por as the Head of the Central Policy Unit with immediate effect until June 30, 2017.
Aged 62, Mr Shiu has been a full-time member of the Central Policy Unit since July 2007. He is an experienced public policy researcher. He was Executive Director of the One Country Two Systems Research Institute, and pursued advanced studies at Harvard University and Tsinghua University. His major research areas include the history of Hong Kong's reunification, the development of politics and the political system in Hong Kong, and the economic and social relationship between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, said, "Mr Shiu has been engaged in public policy research for years and accumulated rich experience during his employment with the Central Policy Unit. I am confident that he will excel in leading the Unit in his new position."
