Draft Tung A and Pak A Development Permission Area Plan approved
********************************************************

The Chief Executive in Council has approved the draft Tung A and Pak A Development Permission Area (DPA) Plan.

"The approved DPA Plan provides guidance for planning and to facilitate development control within the Tung A and Pak A area during the period required for detailed analysis of the land use pattern, study of infrastructural provisions and examination of development options for the formulation of an outline zoning plan (OZP)," a spokesman for the Town Planning Board said today (July 13).

The Planning Scheme Area, covering about 20.41 hectares, comprises three areas, namely Tung A, Pak A and Chau Tsai. Tung A and Pak A are completely encircled by the Sai Kung East Country Park, while Chau Tsai is a small island which is linked to Pak A by a sand bar during low tide.

About 2.12 hectares of land is zoned "Village Type Development" to reflect the existing recognised villages and fishing settlements. Land within this zone is intended for development of small houses by indigenous villagers. It is also intended to concentrate village type development within this zone for a more orderly development pattern, efficient use of land and provision of infrastructure and services.

About 18.29 hectares of land is designated "Unspecified Use" pending detailed analysis and studies to establish the appropriate land uses in the course of the preparation of OZP.

The approved Tung A and Pak A DPA Plan No. DPA/SK-TA/2 is now available for public inspection during office hours at the Secretariat of the Town Planning Board, the Planning Enquiry Counters in North Point and Sha Tin, the Sai Kung and Islands District Planning Office, the Sai Kung District Office and the Sai Kung Rural Committee.

Copies of the approved plan are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the plan can be viewed on the Town Planning Board's website at www.info.gov.hk/tpb.
