This bronze "bo" bell, belonging to Duke Wu of Qin, was inscribed with 135 characters relating to the genealogy of the dukes Wen, Jing and Xian of Qin. Prevalent in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods, "bo" bells were large-scale percussion instruments that were played together with sets of stone chimes, etc., at court rituals and feasts.
