A patient at CPH presented with respiratory symptoms

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

    Regarding the announcement earlier on the confirmation of a cluster of patients with Respiratory Syncytial Virus in a male long-stay ward, the spokesperson of Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) made the following update today (July 7):

     One more male patient aged 62 in the ward presented with respiratory symptoms. Appropriate viral test was arranged for the patient and the result is pending. The patient is being treated under isolation and is in stable condition.

     Admission to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting to the ward has been imposed. Infection control measures have already been stepped up according to established guidelines. All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance.

     The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
