SHA meets UK's Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (with photo)

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (July 6) met with the Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom, Mr Jeremy Browne, who is visiting Hong Kong, to exchange views on the preparatory work for the London 2012 Olympic Games and the participation of the Hong Kong athletes.

     During the meeting with Mr Browne at the Hong Kong Sports Institute this morning, Mr Tsang said that Hong Kong very much looked forward to participating in the London 2012 Olympic Games. "Hong Kong has always enjoyed taking part in major sports events, especially the Olympic Games," he said.

     "This summer we are sending 42 athletes to the London Olympics to compete in 13 sports. In terms of participating athletes and sports events, this will set a record.  In fact this is the largest delegation that we have lined up for the Olympic Games since reunification."

     Mr Tsang said he hoped the UK would host a successful Olympics and the British athletes would achieve an outstanding medal tally.
