Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Pat Heung this morning (July 5) in which a 74-year-old man was killed.
About 9.20am, a private car (PC) driven by a 39-year-old man was travelling along Kam Tin Bypass towards Yuen Long. When reaching outside Kiu Tau Tsuen, it reportedly knocked down the 74-year-old man who was crossing the road on his bicycle.
Sustaining serious head injuries, the man was sent to Pok Oi Hospital where he was certified dead at 10am.
The PC driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and drink driving. He was released on bail pending further enquiries and is required to report back to police in mid-August.
Investigations by Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are underway.
