     The Transport Department (TD) today (July 5) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in Wan Chai North from about 11am to 7pm on Sunday (July 8) to facilitate the holding of a celebration event as well as a vehicle parade.

     The vehicle parade will start from Expo Drive East outside Golden Bauhinia Square, and travel via Expo Drive East southbound, Fleming Road southbound, Hennessy Road eastbound, Yee Wo Street eastbound, Tung Lo Wan Road eastbound, Moreton Terrace northbound, Causeway Road westbound, Leighton Road westbound, Wong Nai Chung Road, Morrison Hill Road northbound, Tin Lok Lane northbound, Hennessy Road westbound, Johnston Road eastbound, Fleming Road northbound, Convention Avenue westbound and Expo Drive northbound, with its finishing point at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre at Expo Drive.

     The special traffic and transport arrangements mainly include:

Road closure
------------

     The following roads will be closed to all vehicular traffic:

1. The section of Expo Drive East southbound between Expo Drive and Expo Drive Central; and
2. The section of Expo Drive eastbound between the turning point on Expo Drive eastbound and Expo Drive East.

Public transport services
-------------------------

1. The bus terminus at Expo Drive East will be suspended;
2. Citybus Routes 25A and 25C, and Cross Harbour Route 961 will omit Expo Drive East and terminate at Wan Chai Ferry Pier bus terminus;
3. Recreation Route H2 will omit the bus stops at Expo Drive and Expo Drive East, and will be temporarily diverted; and
4. The taxi stand at Expo Drive will be suspended.

Suspension of parking spaces
----------------------------

     All metered parking spaces at the section of Expo Drive East southbound between Expo Drive and Expo Drive Central will be suspended.

     The TD anticipates that traffic in Wan Chai and Causeway Bay would be congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. Members of the public planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.

     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and members of public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

     Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk). For further queries, please contact the 1823 Call Centre (Tel: 1823).
