President Hu visits Shek Kong Barracks (with photos/videos)

     President Hu Jintao started his visit programme this afternoon (June 29) after a meeting with the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang.

     Accompanied by the Chief Executive and the Commander of the People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, Lieutenant General Zhang Shibo, President Hu visited Shek Kong Barracks and was given a briefing by the troops.

     President Hu then inspected troops of the People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison by car. This was followed by a visit to the troops' living quarters.

     President Hu attended a dinner hosted by the Chief Executive in the evening. Also present were the Chief Executive-elect, Mr C Y Leung, as well as the Principal Officials and the Directors of the Chief Executive's Office of the third-term and fourth-term Governments of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
