JOBS GO-GO-GOAL helps secondary school graduates
************************************************

     A special tailor-made service package, JOBS GO-GO-GOAL, was launched by the Labour Department (LD) in May 2012 to cater for the pre-employment training and employment needs of Form Six and Form Seven graduates in the 2012 double-cohort year. The service package will assist them in grasping the latest employment information, devising career plans and enhancing their employability.

     A spokesperson for the department said today (June 29) that following the release of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination results today and the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination results in July, some graduates this year would consider entering into the employment market. In the coming two months, JOBS GO-GO-GOAL would continue to organise different types of activities to assist graduates in equipping themselves, enhancing their employability and finding jobs suitable for them.

     Job fairs that assist graduates in grasping the latest employment information and find jobs include:

* A large-scale job fair will be held from July 11 to 13 at Tuen Mun Town Hall and the Hong Kong International Airport Job Expo 2012, co-organised with the Airport Authority Hong Kong at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, will be held from August 3 to 5. Vacancies to be offered at the job fairs will cover a wide variety of positions. Most vacancies require Form 7 education level or below and are open to job seekers without relevant experience;

* Five consecutive recruitment days from July 23 to 27 will be held at the LD's Hong Kong East Job Centre and the two Recruitment Centres for the Catering Industry and the Retail Industry to provide diversified job vacancies and convenient employment services; and

* Job fairs for young people will be staged by the Youth Pre-employment Training Programme and Youth Work Experience and Training Scheme(YPTP&YWETS) in July, including the recruitment day of a tailor-made training-cum employment project on July 12 and a job fair co-organised with a training body on July 25.

     The spokesperson said, "To assist graduates in enhancing their presentation skills, improving the skills for job interviews and exploring their own career interests, the Youth Employment Start (Y.E.S.) of LD will launch a series of special programmes which includes:

* Staging another Interactive drama-based workshop on Job Interview on July 3;

* Holding an "Experience Sharing Session with Celebrity on Career Planning and Job-hunting" on July 3 and 4, at which professional trainer on etiquette, Ms Mary Pandora Cheung, will advise on career planning and job hunting skills;

* Launching "Think Big@Summer ¡V Self-employment Experience Days" at a major shopping centre on August 17 to 18. Stalls are reserved for participating graduates who are interested in pursuing a self-employed career. Participants will obtain practical experience in running a stall; and

* arranging graduates to visit Y.E.S. to experience the facilities and services for career consultation and career assessment.

     Moreover, LD will organise the Most improved Trainee Award Ceremony 2012 cum concert named as "Solar Project 2012 ¡V Dream Journey with YPTP&YWETS" in collaboration with Radio 2 of Radio Television Hong Kong at Queen Elizabeth Stadium on August 22. Pop singers in the event will encourage graduates to head for their dreams.

     Please refer to the appendix for details of the events. Latest information will be uploaded to the JOBS GO-GO-GOAL dedicated webpage at www.jobs.gov.hk/gogogoal. Graduates can also browse vacancies on the webpage and apply for jobs according to their needs and interests. Enquiries on details of the activities can be made at LD's 24-hour hotline 2717 1771 (handled by the 1823 Call Centre).
