Appointments to Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation

     The Government today (June 29) announced the appointment of four new members and the re-appointment of four incumbent members to the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTPC) by the Financial Secretary.

     Dr Lo Wai-kwok, Professor Shyy Wei, Mr Richard Sun Po-yuen and Mr Billy Wong Wing-hoo have been appointed as new board members for a period of two years from July 1, 2012.

     Dr John Chai Yat-chiu, Dr Eliza Chan Ching-har, Mr Tony Choi Siu-chow and Mr David Fong Man-hung have been re-appointed as board members for a period of two years with effect from the same date.

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, said, "I am glad that the corporation has a board of directors in which there is a good mix of expertise to steer effective fulfilment of its public mission. I am confident that these members, with their impressive expertise and knowledge, will help the corporation enhance Hong Kong's position as a regional centre for innovation and technology."

     The term of four incumbent members, Mr Humphrey Choi chor-ching, Mr Mak Chai-kwong, Mr Tom Tang Chung-yen and Mr Wong Ming-yam, will expire on June 30 this year.

     One member, Mr Liu Sing-cheong, resigned from the Board due to personal reasons with effect from July 1 this year.

     "The outgoing board members have provided valuable contributions to steering the corporation in pursuing its public mission. The achievements of the corporation are due in no small part to their guidance and wise counsel," Mr So said.

     The HKSTPC, which began operation on May 7, 2001, manages the Hong Kong Science Park, three industrial estates and the InnoCentre, and supports innovation and technology development in Hong Kong. It provides a comprehensive range of services to cater for the needs of industry at various stages, including nurturing technology start-ups through the incubation programme, providing premises and services in the Science Park for applied research and development activities, and providing developed land in the industrial estates for production.
