Government announces transitional arrangement for Chairman of Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority

     The Government today (June 28) announced that Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim had tendered his resignation as the Chairman of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) with effect from July 1.

     The Secretary for Education, Mr Michael Suen, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Mr Ng for his exemplary contribution and wise counsel since his appointment as the Chairman of the HKEAA in 2009.

     The Government also announced that as a transitional arrangement before the appointment of a new Chairman, the Deputy Chairman of the HKEAA, Mr Stephen Hui Chin-yim, will act in place of the Chairman with effect from July 1 in accordance with Section 3(5A) of the HKEAA Ordinance (Cap. 261).  

     "With rich experience in the education sector, Mr Hui has been very committed to serving the HKEAA. Before the appointment of a new Chairman, Mr Hui will continue to help lead the HKEAA, including the smooth operation of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination," Mr Suen said.
