The Central Government has approved the appointment of the Principal Officials nominated by the Chief Executive-elect, Mr C Y Leung. On behalf of the people of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, extended his warmest regards to the new team today (June 28).
"I wish them every success in their undertaking to build a brighter future for Hong Kong. I would also like to thank the incumbent Principal Officials. Over the past years, they have carried out their duties with dedication and have spared no effort in implementing my policies. I am endlessly grateful for their selfless devotion," Mr Tsang said.
"I am confident that the Principal Officials who are going to stay in the Administration will continue to do their best in serving the public. The outgoing Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Stephen Lam; Secretary for Justice, Mr Wong Yan Lung, SC; Secretary for Education, Mr Michael Suen; Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee; Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow; Secretary for the Civil Service, Miss Denise Yue; and Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng, are all outstanding and highly competent officials. I wish them a happy and enriching life after leaving the Government."
