CEDB's response to media enquiries on Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2011
************************************************************

In response to media enquiries related to the Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2011 (the Bill) today (June 26), a spokesman for the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau said:

"Taking into account that many other bills and urgent matters still need to be dealt with by the Legislative Council (LegCo) within the few remaining sittings, the second reading debate of the Bill will not resume during this term of the LegCo."

The spokesman added, "In view of the complexity of the Bill itself, the Government will continue to engage different sectors to address issues of public concern, including whether a copyright exception for parody should be provided."
