CE-elect welcomes President Hu's visit to Hong Kong

     President Hu Jintao will visit Hong Kong from June 29 to July 1 to attend activities to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) and the inauguration ceremony of the Fourth Term of the SAR Government.

     The Chief Executive-elect, Mr C Y Leung, today (June 24) extends his welcome and gratitude to President Hu. Mr Leung said: "Over the past 15 years, Hong Kong has successfully implemented the principles of 'One country, Two systems', 'Hong Kong people ruling Hong Kong' and a high degree of autonomy. Hong Kong has made progress in various areas. President Hu's presence to celebrate with the people of Hong Kong at this important moment shows his affirmation of and support for Hong Kong and the SAR Government. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to him."
