CSSA caseload for May

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in May showed a drop of 166 cases compared to April, representing a decrease of 0.1 per cent, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (June 20).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of May stood at 274,464 (see attached table), with a total of 437,208 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, unemployment and low-earnings cases registered month-to-month decreases of 0.8 and 0.7 per cent to 25,576 and 11,543 cases respectively. Single parent cases also dropped by 0.1 per cent to 32,472 cases.

     Old age, permanent disability and ill-health cases all showed an increase of 0.1 per cent to 154,019, 18,369 and 25,310 cases respectively.
