Last additional performance of puppetry show "The Ugly Duckling & The Tortoise and the Hare" (with photos)
*******************************************************

The last additional performance of the electroluminescent puppetry show "The Ugly Duckling & The Tortoise and the Hare" has been scheduled for August 12 at the Yuen Long Theatre Auditorium in response to overwhelming public demand. Tickets will be available from tomorrow (June 21) onwards at URBTIX.

Produced by Lightwire Theater from the US, "The Ugly Duckling & The Tortoise and the Hare" is one of the highlights of the large-scale summer festival International Arts Carnival presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

The hare is a fast runner and confident about winning a contest against the plodding tortoise. He's so confident that, halfway through the race, he stops to play with his phone, watch TV, eat and even have a nap! Now will he be defeated again? When an ugly duckling is left out by his family, he tries everything to be accepted. Then one day a wily cat approaches, with dinner on his mind. Who will be the one brave enough to save the family?

Using innovative electroluminescence, Lightwire Theater shines fresh light and humour on the two classic fables "The Ugly Duckling" and "The Tortoise and the Hare". Utilising illuminated wiring, the show features vibrant visuals and meticulous movement. Dressed in dazzling outfits that glow on the darkened stage, animal characters dance to a wonderful mix of music. The show offers exhilarating fun for all.

The additional performance of "The Ugly Duckling & The Tortoise and the Hare" will be held at 7.30pm on August 12 at the Yuen Long Theatre Auditorium, with tickets priced at $180, $130 and $100.

Half-price tickets are available for full-time students, senior citizens, people with disabilities and their minders, and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. Booking discounts of up to 20 per cent are available for full-price performing arts/film programmes.

Programme brochures are available at URBTIX outlets or at the carnival website www.hkiac.gov.hk.
