The Chief Executive-elect, Mr C Y Leung, announced today (June 19) the establishment of the Preparatory Task Force (PTF) on the Commission on Poverty (the Commission). The PTF will commence operation on July 1.
Mr Leung will chair the PTF while the Chief Secretary for Administration will be the Vice-Chairman. Members include Mr Law Chi-kwong, Ms Christine Fang, Mr Ho Hei-wah, Mr Henry Cheng and the Secretary for Labour and Welfare.
Mr Leung said, "The Preparatory Task Force will recommend to the Chief Executive on the terms of reference and composition of the Commission to be reinstated in the next-term Government.
"I hope the terms of reference of the Commission recommended by the Preparatory Task Force will be able to meet the needs of alleviating poverty in our society so that the Commission can carry out its work effectively."
