Approval of Draft Luk Wu and Keung Shan Development Permission Area Plan
****************************************************

The Chief Executive in Council has approved the draft Luk Wu and Keung Shan Development Permission Area (DPA) Plan.

"The approved DPA Plan provides guidance for planning and to facilitate development control within the Luk Wu and Keung Shan areas during the period required for detailed analysis of the land use pattern, study of infrastructural provisions and examination of development options for the formulation of an outline zoning plan (OZP)," a spokesman for the Town Planning Board said today (June 15).

The Planning Scheme Area, covering about 167 hectares, is completely encircled by the Lantau North Country Park in the north and west and the Lantau South Country Park in the south and east.

About 0.41 hectares of land is zoned "Village Type Development" to reflect the existing recognised villages. Land within this zone is intended for development of Small Houses by indigenous villagers. It is also intended to concentrate village type development within this zone for a more orderly development pattern, efficient use of land and provision of infrastructures and services.

About 164.04 hectares of land is designated as "Unspecified Use" area, pending detailed analysis and studies to establish the appropriate land uses in the course of the preparation of the OZP.

The approved Luk Wu and Keung Shan DPA Plan No. DPA/I-LWKS/2 is now available for public inspection during office hours at the Secretariat of the Town Planning Board, the Planning Enquiry Counters of the Planning Department in North Point and Sha Tin, the Sai Kung and Islands District Planning Office and the Islands District Office.

Copies of the approved plan are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the plan can be viewed at the Town Planning Board's website (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
