Appointments to Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board

     The Financial Secretary has exercised a delegated authority to reappoint Mrs Pamela Chan Wong Shui as the Chairperson of the Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board (HKDPB).

     Four incumbent members, namely Miss Annie Chan Wai-hing, Professor Francis Chin Yuk-lun, Mr Eugene Ho and Mr David John Kidd are also reappointed. Professor Wong Chak-kei, a faculty member of the Department of Finance at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, is newly appointed as a Board member.

     A spokesman for the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau said, "We are confident that the HKDPB, with the guidance of Mrs Pamela Chan and the expertise of its members, will continue to contribute to an effective deposit protection scheme in Hong Kong.

     "We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the outgoing member, Professor Yeung Yuet-bor, for his invaluable contribution over the past six years to the HKDPB."

     The above appointments under the Deposit Protection Scheme Ordinance were gazetted today (June 15). They will take effect from July 1 for a period of two years.
