Companies Registry launches company search mobile service
*********************************************************

Members of the public can conduct searches on company information anytime and anywhere using their smartphones and mobile devices through the Companies Registry's new company search mobile service at www.mobile-cr.gov.hk, to be officially launched tomorrow (June 11).

The Registrar of Companies, Ms Ada L L Chung, said, "To enhance our electronic search service and to promote a business-friendly environment in Hong Kong, the new company search mobile service will provide yet another convenient means for the public to search company information."

With a few taps on smartphones or mobile devices, members of the public can conduct free searches on company names, basic company information and lists of documents filed by companies.  If they want to get further information, a company particulars report may also be purchased for online viewing by credit card payment.

"The use of mobile platforms for daily businesses is now commonplace.  The new service will facilitate the doing of business in Hong Kong, in particular for SMEs," Ms Chung said.

As part of the Companies Registry's continuous efforts to enhance the services provided at the e-Registry (www.eregistry.gov.hk), electronic services for submission of statutory returns on changes of registered office addresses, changes of directors or company secretaries and their particulars, and changes of share capital have also been launched recently.
