Mail storage boxes take new look to help promote design (with photos)
********************************************************

Over 700 temporary mail storage boxes in the street have recently had a facelift to carry messages on the public's vision of design to raise the curtain for the "Design, I say..." campaign. The campaign is organised by Hong Kong Design Centre to promote 2012 Hong Kong Design Year. It aims to encourage the public to express their thoughts on design while cherishing the value of design and the role of design in improving daily lives.

With the support of Hongkong Post, Hong Kong Design Centre has adopted an innovative promotion approach. For the first time, the second pouch boxes located in various districts for temporary storage of mail to be delivered by postmen have been transformed into a vast promotion network for 2012 Hong Kong Design Year. The design vision messages displayed on the boxes were collected from the public at the "Hong Kong Design Year @ apm" event in March this year.

An interactive website for the "Design, I say..." campaign will be set up in early July to gather and display public views on design. Members of the public can now visit the Facebook page of 2012 Hong Kong Design Year (www.facebook.com/HongKongDesignYear2012) for more campaign details. They can also leave messages on the Facebook page to share their thoughts on design.

2012 Hong Kong Design Year is presented by Create Hong Kong and organised by Hong Kong Design Centre. It features some 50 design-related programmes throughout the year. With the slogan "A City Driven by Design", it aims to showcase Hong Kong's strength as a regional design hub, foster the community's interest in design and celebrate design excellence.
