Tenders invited for contract of "Improvement to Pok Oi Interchange"

     The Highways Department today (June 8) invited tenders for the contract of "Improvement to Pok Oi Interchange" (Contract No. HY/2011/13).

     The works are expected to commence in September 2012 and will take about 33 months to complete. The works will mainly comprise:

- construction of a single-lane flyover about 150 metres long adjacent to the northbound carriageway of the elevated Yuen Long Highway (YLH) at Pok Oi Interchange and associated slip roads about 630m long in total connecting with the ground-level sections of YLH;

- construction of a slip road about 400m long connecting the southbound carriageway of the elevated YLH to the ground-level section of YLH;

- construction of a segregated left-turn lane about 110m long near the northern approach road (southbound) of Pok Oi Roundabout (POR) and the associated pedestrian subway extension;

- local widening of about 400m long northbound and about 140m long southbound on existing carriageways of YLH north of POR;

- installation of vertical noise barriers about 200m long and 2.5m high along the southern approach road (northbound) of POR and reprovisioning of existing noise barriers about 30m long and 3m high along the northern approach road (southbound) of POR; and

- associated road, slope, drainage, traffic aids, road lighting and landscaping works.

     Tender submissions should be placed in the Government Secretariat Tender Box located at G/F, East Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar, Hong Kong. Submission of tenders will close at noon on August 3, 2012 (Friday).

     The Works Division of the Highways Department will supervise the construction works. Interested contractors can obtain the tender forms and other particulars from the Works Division of the Highways Department at 16/F, Skyline Tower, 39 Wang Kwong Road, Kowloon Bay, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
