An Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK) seminar today (June 6) encouraged companies in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to make use of Hong Kong's enduring advantages to "go global". The seminar, titled "Hong Kong - Your Platform to Go Global", was hosted by InvestHK in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

During the seminar, entrepreneurs were briefed on Hong Kong's advantages and how best they could use Hong Kong as a platform to expand business to international markets. The seminar was co-organised with the Department of Commerce of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and CCPIT-Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Organisation. Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Simon Galpin; Member of the CPC Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Mr Pan Yiyang; Commissioner of Department of Commerce of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Mr Li Wanzhong; and Party Secretary Chairman of CCPIT Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Council, Mr Li Jiangang, delivered speeches.

Elaborating on Hong Kong's enduring business advantages, Mr Galpin said, "Inner Mongolia's rapid economic development in recent years has been impressive, and in particular the energy (new energy) industry has huge economic potential. As the economic ties between Inner Mongolia and Hong Kong continue to strengthen, corporations from the autonomous region could make use of Hong Kong as a platform to reach out for more business opportunities. Hong Kong ranks highly for its business-friendly environment, the absence of foreign exchange controls, free trade and free market economy, diversified talent pool, world-class infrastructure, sound and independent legal system, low tax regime as well as its strategic location at the heart of Asia. All these make Hong Kong an ideal testing ground for companies to expand their overseas markets and 'go global'."

Head of Transport and Industrial sector team at InvestHK, Mr Benjamin Wong, also gave a presentation during the seminar, highlighting Hong Kong's business advantages and opportunities, in particular those in the industrial manufacturing and mining sector, and the various types of free services and assistance that InvestHK could offer to companies which intend to set up in Hong Kong and "go global".

Other speakers included a partner at KPMG,  Ms Susana Gao, and Deputy Chief Accountant of Inner Mongolia Yitai Group Co Ltd, Mr Zhang Lifeng, who shared their knowledge and experience of Hong Kong's advantages in terms of investment and the business environment.
