Appointment of directors to Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company board

The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited:

     The Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited (HKCMCL) today (June 5) announced the appointment of three new non-Government directors to its board of directors.     

     The new directors are Mr Gabriel Pang Tsz-kit, Ms Jeny Yeung Mei-chun and Ms Rosanna Choi Yi-tak. They are appointed for a term from June 5, 2012 to June 4, 2014.

     Mr Gabriel Pang is the Chief Operating Officer of Firedog Studio Company Limited, a company focused on game and animation development. He is also the Chairman of Hong Kong Digital Entertainment Association.  His knowledge and hands-on experience will help Cyberport formulate strategies to drive the development of creative industries, particularly the digital media sector.

     Ms Jeny Yeung is the Commercial Director of the MTR Corporation Limited and a member of the Advisory Committee on Publicity and Public Education in Innovation and Technology. Her extensive experience in marketing and corporate management will be useful in promoting Cyberport as a leading information and communications technology hub in the Asia-Pacific region.

     Ms Rosanna Choi is a Certified Public Accountant and a Partner of CWCC. She is a Council member of the Baptist University of Hong Kong and was the Chairperson of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Hong Kong in 2010-2011. Her accountancy background and public service experience will be useful to the HKCMCL board on financial and corporate governance matters.

     With the new appointments, there will be 11 non-Government directors and two government directors on the board. The new board comprises a good mix of expertise from the business community and the information and communications technology (ICT) industry.

     "With the vision, leadership and enthusiasm of the directors, we will continue to work towards the attainment of Cyberport's mission of facilitating the local economy by nurturing ICT start-ups and entrepreneurs, driving collaboration to pool resources and creating business opportunities, and promoting a digitally inclusive society through strategic initiatives and partnerships," a spokesman for the HKCMCL said.

     The HKCMCL also expressed gratitude to the outgoing directors, Mr Anthony Au Wai-hung and Ms Winnie J Ng, for their valuable support and contribution to the Cyberport over the years.

     The HKCMCL is one of the three private and wholly-owned companies set up by the Government under the Financial Secretary Incorporated to oversee the development, operation and management of the Cyberport Project. The board of directors provides policy and strategic guidance to the HKCMCL on its business development, as well as oversight over corporate performance and governance.
