Public invited to attend second forum on Control of Obscene and Indecent Articles Ordinance review

     Members of the public are welcome to attend the second public forum on the review of the Control of Obscene and Indecent Articles Ordinance (COIAO) to share their views.

     Details of the forum are as follows:

Date: June 6 (Wednesday)
Time: 7.30pm to 9.30pm
Venue: Cultural Activities Hall, Tsuen Wan Town Hall

     The forum will be conducted in Cantonese with simultaneous English interpretation. For details and online registration, please visit the thematic website www.coiao.gov.hk. Seats will be reserved for all registered attendees. Remaining seats will be made available to non-registered attendees on a first-come, first-served basis.

     The Government launched the second-round public consultation on the review of the COIAO on April 16 this year to invite public views on the proposed improvement measures for the existing regulatory regime, particularly on how to reform the institutional set-up of the Obscene Articles Tribunal and the extent to which the maximum penalties under the current regime should be raised. The consultation document is available at the thematic website www.coiao.gov.hk .

     This first public forum was held in the Hong Kong Science Museum on May 23.
