Drunk person case in Sheung Shui reclassified as manslaughter

     Police today (June 4) reclassified a drunk person case in Sheung Shui on June 2 as manslaughter.

     At about 2pm on that day, Police received a report from a 36-year-old woman, alleging her 27-year-old boyfriend, who was suspected to be drunk, was found unconscious inside a flat on Kat Cheung Crescent, Sheung Shui. The man was sent to Northern District Hospital for treatment.

     Later the medical officer of the Hospital found a head wound with suspicious on the man and report the case to the casualty post yesterday (June 3) morning. The man was subsequently certified dead at 5.50pm yesterday.

     Police¡¦s investigations revealed that the deceased was pushed onto the ground by his male friend and sustained head injuries in the early morning of June 2 in Shek Wu Hui, Sheung Shui.

     Police arrested the 29-year-old male friend, who was suspected to be in connection with the case, in Sheung Shui yesterday evening. He is being detained for further enquiries.

     A post-mortem examination will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of the death.

     Active investigations by the District Investigation Team of Tai Po Police District are underway.
