Police today (June 2) arrested a 57-year-old man in connection with a murder and attempted suicide case in Tin Shui Wai this afternoon in which a 48-year-old woman died.
About 3.17pm, Police received a report that a woman was lying unconsciously and a man was injured in a unit at Yuet Tai House, Tin Yuet Estate. Officers sped to the scene and found the 48-year-old woman sustaining severe abdomen injury. She was subsequently certified dead at the scene. The 57-year-old man sustained abdomen injury and was sent to Tuen Mun Hospital for medical treatment. A fruit knife in suspected connection with the case was seized in the unit.
Initial investigations found that the duo had a dispute in the unit and the man attempted to commit suicide after wounding his wife with a knife.
The man was arrested for murder and is being detained for further enquiries.
A post-mortem examination will be later conducted on the deceased to ascertain the cause of death.
Investigations by the District Crime Squad of Yuen Long Police District are underway.
