CE-elect responds to report of Independent Review Committee for the Prevention and Handling of Potential Conflicts of Interests
************************************************************

The Chief Executive-elect, Mr C Y Leung, welcomes the report issued by the Independent Review Committee for the Prevention and Handling of Potential Conflicts of Interests (the Committee) today (May 31). He will consider the various recommendations in the report seriously and seek to implement them as soon as possible after he takes office.

During the course of his campaigning, Mr Leung stated publicly, "I would take the initiative to enhance the requirements on declaration of interests for the Chief Executive to a level on a par with civil servants." This stance is very much in line with the recommendations of the Committee.

On the day of the Chief Executive election, Mr Leung also pledged publicly that he would lead by example and, together with his political team and civil servants, run an honest and clean government.

Mr Leung extended his gratitude to the Committee's Chairman, Mr Andrew Li Kwok-nang, and all members of the Committee for their efforts.
